Job Description

Evergreen Packaging, Inc. (EPI) is a business unit of GEC Packaging Technologies (GEC) and a global manufacturer and supplier of paper and paperboard products with a leading position in the manufacture of refrigerated paper cartons and filling equipment. The Pine Bluff Fiber Procurement Manager reports directly to the GEC Senior Director of Global Procurement – Direct Materials and is responsible to develop and execute a wood procurement strategy consistent with the goals and needs of the business and to maximize the strategic value provided by the Fiber Procurement team. This position controls all procurement activities associated with the nearly 2.5 million combined tons of roundwood pulpwood and purchased wood chips consumed by the Pine Bluff Mill annually.

  • eam as a strategic asset to the organization, shareholders and investors
  • Provide strategic direction to control/reduce costs and provide fiber & waste fuel supply security
  • Communicate and collaborate with Mill Executive team and participate in regular Operations and Finance meetings
  • Work closely with Mill Operations teams to meet needs and address any fiber issues
  • Maximize logistical efficiencies and advantages while minimizing supply chain risk
  • Negotiate all fiber & fuel supply and non-supply agreements and chip and roundwood contracts
  • Manage EPI sustainability initiatives for fiber procurement and delivery
  • Develop annual budgets for fiber and fuel pricing 
  • Maintain various daily/weekly/monthly forecasts and financial reports 
  • Manage mill fiber deliveries to ensure operating inventories are maintained 
  • Maximize performance of direct reports
  • Use experience to identify and quickly address fiber quality and wood delivery volume issues
  • Optimize the value of the 300,000 tons of wood yard inventory storage capacity while minimizing the impact to working capital
  • Identify and develop new supply opportunities to reduce cost, increase certified fiber, improve supply security, minimize working capital requirements and/or drive profitable growth


  • A minimum of ten years of experience in a forestry and wood procurement role 
  • Five years of experience in a leadership role of similar magnitude is required
  • BS/BA level of education is required
  • Extensive historical knowledge of the local and regional wood basket strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical, trouble shooting and decision making skills
  • Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and maintain attention to detail and recognize time constraints
  • Advanced level skills in MS Excel and ERP systems – SAP preferred
  • Experience with ALDATA fiber supply management software products a plus
