Job Description

The Senior Cost Analyst will support the pulp mill and power/recovery areas of the mill, to include decision support, reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and internal controls. The Senior Cost Analyst is responsible for month-end processes to generate actual vs. target manufacturing costs and coordinating the completion of the monthly profitability report. The Senior Cost Analyst is responsible for coordination of the annual standards revision processing. The Senior Cost Analyst reports to the Cost Accounting Manager.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide financial support the pulp mill and power/recovery management with routine reporting and ad hoc analyses to support decision-making
  • Perform various duties to support the monthly financial close, including reviewing pulp and power data used to prepare energy accruals and reports, journal entries, running the month-end processing steps, completing power/recovery and pulp mill financial packages, account analysis and account reconciliation for energy related accounts
  • Responsible for any pulp mill and energy related surveys
  • Responsible for the timely reviewing and processing of steam, electric and natural gas invoices
  • Compile and submit the annual NGPL Pipeline invoice to steam supplier for reimbursement
  • Coordinate department monthly chart package

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting or Finance, or a business related field with sufficient concentration in accounting
  • Five plus years of accounting experience in a manufacturing organization
  • Strong cost analysis skills
  • Working knowledge of internal controls
  • Experience with ERP accounting systems, preferably SAP
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including intermediate or advance Excel skills (i.e. pivot tables, filters, charts, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively communicate within cross-functional teams throughout the organization
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to drive tasks to completion

Preferred:

  • CPA or CPA eligible
  • Master’s degree
