Job Description

The primary duties of this job are to support maintenance crew members and contractors, implement both capital and expense projects, and drive E/I reliability as related to the electrical infrastructure, power generation, and power distribution within the mill.

  • Work with Duke Energy to coordinate work 
  • Oversee electrical contractors as needed
  • Communicate with suppliers
  • Set mill wide Reliability Practices as related to Power distribution and transformers
  • Manage mill Arc Flash compliance program
  • Be the knowledge base for electrical power balancing between internal generation and external supply for the mill
  • Oversee Generator rebuilds
  • Provide electrical mill start up strategies as related to electrical/ steam balancing
  • Provide technical assistance as needed
  • Order parts and supplies required by projects, etc.
  • Understand industry standard practices concerning reliability techniques
  • Have strong trouble shooting skills
  • Ability to train others

Qualifications

Special Knowledge and Skills:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering 
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in Power Generation and Distribution
  • Ability to understand how to work safely within environment 
  • Knowledge of turbine generators and how they tie with external electrical supply
  • Experience with high voltage work (13.8KV to 2400V)
  • 2400V Starter troubleshooting
  • PLC knowledge and troubleshooting
  • Capable of working independently with little direction
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and AutoCAD 

Preferred Experience in:

  • Working knowledge of NEC
  • Working knowledge of DCS
  • Working knowledge of 5MW or larger turbine generators
