The Manufacturing Excellence Engineer reports to the Manufacturing Excellence and Quality Business Unit Manager. This position supports all ME activities being conducted at the Canton/Waynesville facilities. This position coaches facilitators, engineers, manufacturing leaders, and operators, as needed. They are responsible for putting together monthly tracking of performance and reports.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for training of employees in utilization of Lean Sigma skills, including effective meeting management, conducting of RCFA’s (Root Cause Failure Analysis), problem solving tools ( fishbone diagrams, 5 whys), 5S activities, and standard work development.
Leads Process improvement initiatives including opportunity identification, business case development, project scoping, work plan development, data gathering and analysis, solution development, change management, value stream mapping, and cost‐benefits estimations.
Aids in the development and reporting structure of both routine and project driven KPI’s. Evaluates progress toward KPI goals and takes action to ensure these goals are met.
Facilitates Kaizen and Continuous Improvement Teams improving hourly participation and engagement in sustainable solutions.
Special Knowledge, Skills and Training:
TPM/Six Sigma/LEAN experience (preferred)
Demonstrated ability to implement new techniques and continuous improvement programs at all levels of manufacturing operations.
Planning and organizational skills – prioritization, resource allocation, multi-tasking.
Data analysis skills with Microsoft Excel
Use of Microsoft Access database and Minitab (preferred)
Six Sigma Green belt
Six Sigma Black belt (preferred)
Strong leadership and facilitation skills.
Experience in developing and implementing standards.
Understanding of continuous Improvement Process.
Education and Experience:
*4 year BS degree required / preferred – Engineering focus
