Evergreen Packaging is conducting pre-screening for Entry Level Production jobs located in the Canton Mill and Waynesville Extruder facility. The entry-level production positions can be based in a variety of locations within the Mill and Extruder Facility based on the current openings the Company has.

Evergreen Packaging partners with the Haywood County NCWorks Career Center and all candidates must apply within the NCWorks process prior to applying on the Company Website.

Qualifications

As a CDL-A Local Truck Driver for Evergreen Packaging, you will be responsible for transporting freight between multiple Evergreen locations.

 

Key Expectations:
Meet daily load count based on route demand

Ability to be self-directed, in order to organize work and meet deadlines
Comply with all local, state, country, & federal laws set by the Department of Transportation 
Adhere to all EPI policies & procedures 
Participate in sponsored activities & programs designed to improve safety awareness 
Operate with extreme caution to ensure the safety of customers & employees 

Other Duties:

1.   Have a work record satisfactory to this department.

2.   Minimum age:  21

3.   All applicants must be experienced in driving tractor and trailer units with 80,000lbs gross weight under DOT Rules and Regulations and have a current qualified CDL license for units previously driven.  Must be able to submit written record of experience as required by the DOT.  (Part 391 of these regulations)

4.   Standard performance or above in employment appraisal measurements as specified by Personnel Department and Canton Mill Trucking.

5.   A high school diploma and one (3) years of documented experience driving a tractor trailer with 80,000lbs gross weight  unit under DOT Rules and Regulations on the public highways of the United States and in all four (4) seasons. Must have an accident record acceptable to the company.

6.   All applicants are checked through the Records Section of the State Police, and local departments. Any reports unsatisfactory to the Company will be considered as grounds for disqualifying the applicant. 

7.   Must be physically fit and must have a doctor’s certificate, drug tested and random drug tested as required by the DOT Rules and Regulations.  (Part 391.1 through 391.123)

8.   The position receives a minimum of direct supervision and must be able to proactively organize the work to meet deadlines.

9.   All applicants will be subject to a training and qualification period.

 

CDL-A Local Truck Driver Job Requirements:
Valid CDL-A

High School Diploma
Minimum 3 years of verifiable tractor/trailer combination experience with 80,000lbs gross weight

Experience driving within in all (4) seasons
Have an excellent driving record: applicants are checked through the Records Section of the State Police and local departments
Be able to pass & maintain DOT physical requirements 
Be 21 years of age 
Have an excellent safety record 
Be self-motivated, positive, dependable, & able to perform job with minimal supervision 

Additional Information

Evergreen Packaging may require satisfactory completion of certain job based assessments which candidates would be required to successfully complete in order to qualify for the position.
