This position is responsible for helping the development, implementation, and technical support of the paper machines, extruders and finishing/shipping departments. The position requires strong technical skills. The prospective candidate should have the ability to manage several assignments that span multiple engineering disciplines, with the primary focus on engineering. The ideal candidate will be technically oriented, detailed in approach, work well with people at all levels in the organization, and will be promotable to management positions in the company after building background and experience in our business.
Meet with the production areas each day to assist in daily projects.
Lead process investigations for upset conditions or customer complaint resolution.
Handle lockout and equipment assignments for machine outages.
Develop entry level engineers in the Finished Products area by handling trial work (Preparation, Written Plan, execute, Trial reports)
Lead special Projects like Food Safety implementation and ME teams.
Handle performance evaluations for engineers under my responsibility.
Work with mill Quality and Corporate to handle Product development work in both the Liquid Packaging and Coated Pub businesses.
Weekend Duty Team Leader
Support Capital Engineering group with process information and data gathering for capital projects.
Work with production groups on cost reduction and cost per ton initiatives.
Performs other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited higher learning institution, preferably in a Quality or Engineering related field.
Experience in manufacturing environment prefer paper manufacturing.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience related to quality assurance, lean manufacturing, regulatory compliance, and Six Sigma manufacturing; previous direct leadership experience preferred.
Hands-on approach to troubleshoot and resolve quality related issues
Detail focused with strong organization, persuasion and negotiation skills
Ability to present information and respond to questions from various levels within the organization
