Job Description

The ideal candidate will Supervise maintenance activities for Athens, GA Plant. Manage job activities of maintenance planner and craftsmen. Serve as a contact for any contracted work. Generate work orders necessary for the day-to-day repairs needed. Work within budget confines to obtain needed materials and non-stock spare parts. Coordinate with production to manage the work order and safety work order backlog. Perform daily checks on the Kronos time records of the employees.

  • Daily supervision of craftsmen
  • Implement and manage PM systems for facility machinery
  • Work with Material Manager to secure stocked and non-stocked parts and materials for daily repair and for scheduled outages
  • Manage activities to meet production goals, increase up time and increase the efficiency of machines and craftsmen
  • Attend and conduct necessary meetings, define specialized training needs and work within scheduled work time to allow employees to attend training
  • Develop training plans for crew
  • Coordinate and prioritize work with production managers
  • Manage timekeeping, overtime functions, vacation schedules, floaters and vacancies
  • Coordinate and supervise contracted work
  • Be available as needed during unexpected downtime
  • Support occasional weekend duty
  • Able to be the second line of trouble shooting support both mechanically and electrically for the craftsmen
  • Able to support troubleshooting of AC & DC drives, PLC’s, communication networks
  • Familiar with industrial equipment and associated equipment. Knowledge of printing processes and equipment us a plus–Understand how the equipment works, terminology, know how long maintenance tasks would take and how many employees to schedule

  • Must have complete understanding of maintenance operations and its impact on profitability
  • Must be a leader and self-starter
  • Must have strong communication as well as interpersonal skills
  • Must act as a member of a team with a common goal in mind
  • Must possess supervisory skills
  • Must be able to manage many tasks at once and prioritize as needed
  • Must be able to manage a work force with many experienced mechanics and electricians
  • 5 to 7 years in job related experience/maintenance work, operations and general manufacturing familiarity
  • Work experience as a hands-on maintenance technician is a plus
  • Thorough understanding and use of the computer based operating system - SAP, AutoCad, Word, Excel, Project and Kronos
  • Safety and maintenance procedures trained at facility


  • A four-year BSME/BSEE or two-year Mechanical Engineering Technology degree with 2-4 years of project engineering experience
  • Prior supervisory experience with an hourly work force in a union work environment
  • Working knowledge of maintenance workflow software or similar
  • Working knowledge of Results Oriented Reliability and Maintenance Programs
  • Working knowledge of operational monitoring tools/techniques and equipment troubleshooting
  • Reliance/Rockwell, Allen Bradley, Panel View, Control Logix, familiarity
