Job Description

The Plant Controller manages all aspects of accounting for the converting plant in Plant City, FL, including cost accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, payroll, accounts payable, budgeting and forecasting. The Controller is an active member of the plant management team and is expected to lead and support all aspects of facility operations.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise local finance team of three employees, while promoting a positive environment of continuous improvement and personal development.
  • Build good working relationships with operational management and provide insights, feedback, and analysis to help drive financially sound decisions.
  • Oversee cost accounting functions to include familiarity with inner-workings of cost accounting systems and oversight of variance and allocation reporting.
  • Research, understand and communicate financial variance drivers.
  • Oversee raw material input cost accounting to insure proper receipt, inventory, consumption calculations, variance explanations and forecasting.
  • Responsible for plant financial forecasting and budgeting, to include development, reporting and communicating to appropriate parties.
  • Oversee plant hourly payroll processing and accounting.
  •  Oversee plant-specific accounts payable processing.
  • Oversee plant customer billing and invoice processing.
  • Oversee all aspects of general accounting including balance sheet account reconciliations and assurance of appropriate accruals and proper accounting treatment.
  • Responsible for financial management of plant inventories.
  • Work closely with division finance group to insure corporate and external reporting requirements are met.
  • ·Oversee plant month-end close process.
  • Capital and fixed asset management, including project financial support (return analysis), spend forecasting and insuring proper administration of placed in service, depreciation, retirements and CIP control.
  • Effectively communicate financial results to both plant and corporate management teams.
  • Responsible for plant internal controls and policy compliance.
  • Act as financial liaison between plant and other business groups, including sales, customer service, product development, mills, supply chain, procurement, etc.
  • Analytical support and ad-hoc projects as required.



To be successful in this role, you should have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA or CMA preferred
  •  Minimum 3 - 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing standard cost environment or similar background in general accounting, with experience in forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and inventory management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage and motivate others.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint required.
  • Experience working with SAP ERP preferred
